Honeycomb girder

Why it is honeycomb girder but not truss girder?

FAQ 七 25, 2015 No Comments

Generally, truss girder launching gantry features good wind resistance, light weight and light weight, But why we choose honeycomb girder but not truss girder?

1. higher wind resistance ability than truss girder.

When the wind blows the inclined web plate,  one part pass through the honeycomb hole, and the other part is transfered into two parts: the force paralleled with the inclined web plate and downward force which also help further stable the launching gantry;

while the wind just pass through the truss girder, do not help stable it; at the time light weight seems its weakness;

2. stabler and safer than truss girder

honeycomb type main girder is welded by web plate and the chord, surface to surface welding greatly reduces the risk of unstability caused by somewhat bad welding, even though we do not allow that bad welding;

truss type main girder is welded by pole and pole, point to point welding has greater risk once there is bad welding somewhere.
