What is Overview about Movable Scaffolding System?

MSS(Movable Scafflding System) is a kind of construction equipment for cast-in-place concrete girder by use of self formwork and loading bearing longitudinal girder. The technology was originated in west Europe in 1950s, introduced into Japan and America in 1970s and now prevails all over the world as one main way to construct bridge.

Compared with entire construction ways, MSS with self formwork for cast-in-place concrete girder features:

1. Save beam equipments, investment on large worksite and site-transferring cost
2. Girder installation process is omitted, so girder carrier, lifting machinery for heavy objects and launching girder are not needed.
3. During the process to construct the bridge, MSS has little effect on road base and upper structure of bridge;
4. MSS is suitable for constructing a long bridge with multi-spans, especially for continuous or simply supported PC girder construction.

Compared with entire box girder installation, MSS has some disadvantages, namely:

Cast-in-place concrete girder is done on the bridge location and each span has a longer construction period which can be shorten by adding more construction points.

So with developed highway and high speed railway, Germany and Italy still continuously develops and uses MSS. And ZZHZ will dedicate in promoting and developing MSS in China
