Bridge construction crane has to adjust span according to actual demands as the bridge uses concrete girders combination with different lengths.

(1)   Span shift from 32m to 24m

After the last 32m main girder crosses piers, remove connection between front leg of guide beam and guide beam as lifting guide beam at the first step to move longitudinally the guide beam, and remove anchoring connection between front leg of guide beam and piers, then move front leg of guide beam backward 8m by using hanging gearbox at top of guide beam front leg and special chain block. And then finish installing the last 32m concrete girder in accordance with normal longitudinal moving procedure and girder installation procedure of guide beam. Difference between normal crossing piers procedure and next crossing piers procedure is: main girder and front leg move forward 8m, stop temporarily, front leg automatically moves backward 8m onto piers, then connect and fix tightly main girder, front leg and pier, cylinders of auxiliary leg draw back and loads are transmitted to front leg, auxiliary leg moves backward 8m, and then remove anchoring connection between front leg and pier, cylinder of auxiliary leg stretches out to make front leg leave the pier, the bridge construction crane with front leg moves forward 24m to the pre-calculated position.

(2) Span shift from 24m to 32m

after the last 24m main girder cross piers, remove connection between guide beam front leg and guide beam as lifting guide beam at the first step of longitudinally moving of guide beam, remove anchoring connection between guide beam front leg and pier, and then move guide beam front leg forward 8m by using hanging gearbox at top of guide beam front leg and special chain block. And then finish installing the last 24m concrete girder in accordance with normal guide beam longitudinal moving procedure and girder installation procedure. Difference between normal crossing piers procedure and the next crossing piers procedure is: before crossing piers, auxiliary leg automatically moves forward 8m and supports on the guide beam to bear loads, front leg suspends to move forward automatically 8m, and then the bridge construction crane moves forward 24m to the pre-calculated position according to normal crossing piers procedure.
